Hey, it's late and I'm trying to get Oregon Trail 2 to run on my Windows 7 laptop because my friend and I want to play for old times sake. When I insert the CD it does the 'YEEEEHAW!' Sound, and then shows the screen with options like 'Run' 'Install' etc.
Rob Papen Albino 3 Rat. I click Install but then it pops up with a window titled 'Unsupported 16-bit Application' that says 'The program or feature '?? D: Win32 setup32. Latex Template For Conference Program Pdf here. exe' cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available.' The only option is ok and when I press that, a new window appears saying 'An error occurred in trying to launch this application. Please quit MECC Tour and try launching Win32 setup32.exe from the disk.' I tried doing that, in windows XP and 98 and 95 compatibility modes but no luck, it gives me the same popup.
Please help ASAP cuz we wanna play tonight! Just download an and save yourself the trouble of grabbing an install disk, tweaking settings etc.
If you get a 'windows protection error' go to the settings for that particular VM. • Under System - Enable IO APIC, chipset - PIIX3, System >Acceleration - disable VT-x/AMD-v - VERY Important • Under display - 32 MB of video memory • Storage, Make sure the IDE Controller type is set to PIIX3 - VERY Important that you do this • In audio, choose Windows directsound and soundblaster 16 • Disable serial ports and/or usb if nessasary • • • •. After messing around with the settings, I get a couple things going on.
It's detecting new hardware, but it won't find the drivers, or if I click for it to look in floppy disk, the default, it asks me to insert teh Win98 CD, which I don't have. But if I don't tell it to look in Floppy Disk, it just says it won't install it, and I move on with my life. Now, I tell the VM to detect my D: drive, which is my CD drive. It detects that I have the Oregon Trail CD in there, the icon is the little cow skull thing, we're gravy. Then I double click that, to start the program and it gives me the error pop-up box, but with no words inside. I click ok and then it pops up with another box that might be the Oregon Trail box(?) and it says 'Program Error'.
I have a feeling that this is a problem with Win 98, like a Win 98 error, instead of a Virtualbox error. It installed fine in Win 3.11!
And then it installed Quicktime or something, no big deal whatever. I double click to play it and it tells me that 'This product requires a video mode that supports at least 256 colors.' At this point, I'm considering just going out on the Oregon Trail by myself. How hard can it be?
All I need is a wagon, some oxen, a few pounds of bacon, a rifle, a million boxes of bullets, and to not get sick with cholera - can't be that hard.
